The surface lens is sharp when the pitch report is: (a) from the official BCCI or venue curator channel, (b) released on the match day, (c) classified using the verified five-tier language cue system. The surface lens is blurred when: the report is from a journalist interpretation, the tier classification is uncertain, or the bettor is relying on pre-match estimates rather than the official release.
Lens 2 — The squad lens (playing XI as the team-specific expected score modifier): The second analytical lens is the squad lens: what does today's confirmed official XI reveal about the team's powerplay scoring potential? The squad lens filters the match information through the four squad scoring components (opening pair quality, batting depth, key player flag, surface-specific lineup) and produces a squad adjustment in the range of +2.8 (elite squad, optimal surface match) to −4.8 (makeshift openers, short batting depth, key player absent, surface-mismatched lineup). The squad lens is sharp when the XI is: (a) from the official franchise announcement channel, (b) confirmed on the match day (not pre-match speculation), (c) scored using the verified four-component system. The squad lens is blurred when: the XI is from a journalist source, is unconfirmed, or is scored with generic impressions rather than the four-component system.
Lens 3 — The conditions lens (atmospheric conditions as the final EV modifier): The third analytical lens is the conditions lens: what do current conditions readings — within 2 hours of match time — reveal about the atmospheric effects on the expected session score? The conditions lens applies the four conditions dimensions: dew probability (coastal + humidity + wind), humidity and ball behaviour (swing conditions for first innings), temperature and pitch deterioration (heat-accelerated surface change), and wind effect. The conditions lens is sharp when: readings are from a calibrated local station within 2 hours of match time, the four conditions dimensions are each assessed, and the adjustments are applied consistently with the calibrated conditions model. The conditions lens is blurred when: readings are from a non-local station, are from more than 2 hours before match time, or when only one or two conditions dimensions are checked and the others are estimated.
Lens 4 — The market lens (the deviation between analytical EV and the exchange's generic line): The fourth and final analytical lens is the market lens: what does the exchange's current session line reveal about the gap between the market's generic expected value and the analytical model's specific expected value? The market lens calculates the deviation: (market line − analytical EV) / market line × 100. At Chepauk Tier 4 with a confirmed full-strength squad: market line 52, analytical EV 40.7, market deviation = (52 − 40.7)/52 = 20.8%. The market lens is sharp when: the line is taken from the live exchange at the moment of information release (maximum deviation), the deviation is calculated after overround adjustment, and the qualifying threshold (≥8% effective) is applied cleanly. The market lens is blurred when: the line is checked too early (before market has opened fully) or too late (after partial correction), or when the overround adjustment is skipped.
