At a primary mastered venue, 8.5% effective is worth acting on; at a developing venue with fewer calibration observations, the confidence in the expected value is lower and the 0.5% margin is insufficient. The marginal qualifying tactic: act on it at primary mastered venues with fully verified inputs; pass on it anywhere else.
Tactic 2 — The dual-trigger match (two independent qualifying positions in the same match): The second tactical decision arises when both the pitch report and the squad announcement produce qualifying deviations at the same match — two independent surges, both above threshold. The BookTactic framework: (a) if both positions qualify independently and both inputs are verified, both can be placed — but with modified stake sizing. The standard 3-unit maximum applies to each individually, but the combined exposure from both positions at the same match should not exceed 4 units total (reducing the second position from its calculated tier to the adjusted tier). The dual-trigger match is an analytical opportunity, but the combined exposure management prevents a single match from representing excessive single-event risk; (b) if only one position is at a higher tier and the second is marginal, apply the marginal tactic from Tactic 1 to the second position.
Tactic 3 — The seasonal model adjustment (in-season update when the model shows systematic bias): The third tactical decision is the mid-season model adjustment: when 8+ qualifying bets have been placed and the actual results are consistently above or below the expected values by more than 1σ, this pattern may indicate a genuine model bias rather than variance.
